An entire family – man, woman, son and daughter – in Arizona has come out as transgender.
The father now identifies as a woman, and is asking to be called mom. His fiancée, the mother-to-be, identifies as a man and said she is “mom.” The son considers himself a girl and, of course, yes, the daughter now says he’s a boy. An entire loving transgender family, all under one roof.
Daniel Harrott was born a woman, while his fiancée, Shirley Austin was born a man. Both have previously been married.
Eleven year-old Mason and 13 year-old Joshua have also switched genders.
“The whole family is in transition,” Austin said in an interview with KJZZ, which reports the two adults are teaching each other to adopt new “traditional” gender roles.
March for Life Director Resigned After Gay Tryst in Office
The March for Life Director, and Ohio Congressman, Wes Goodman (R-Ohio) who has touted his religious faith and family values has resigned after being caught in “inappropriate behavior” of a romantic or sexual nature with a man in his office.
The incident happened a few weeks ago Rep. Wes Goodman’s office and “involved a male in a consensual situation,” The Columbus Dispatch reports. Someone informed House Chief of Staff Mike Dittoe about the incident Tuesday, and House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger met with Goodman later in the day, according to the paper. Goodman then resigned late Tuesday.
He acknowledged and confirmed the allegations,” Rosenberger said in a prepared statement to the Dispatch. “It became clear that his resignation was the most appropriate course of action for him, his family, the constituents of the 87th House District and this institution.”
Goodman, a Republican, was elected to represent the 87th District, in north-central Ohio, just last year. He promoted himself as a Christian conservative and said on his campaign website, “healthy, vibrant, thriving, values-driven families are the source of Ohio’s proud history,” according to the Dispatch.
Rumors of Goodman’s “inappropriate behavior” had been circulating for years in Washington and Ohio, the Dispatch reports, although Jordan said he saw no evident of Goodman engaging in such conduct.
Goodman, 33, who is married to a woman, issued a statement of apology: “We all bring our own struggles and our own trials into public life. That has been true for me, and I sincerely regret that my actions and choices have kept me from serving my constituents and our state in a way that reflects the best ideals of public service. For those whom I have let down, I’m sorry. As I move onto the next chapter of my life, I sincerely ask for privacy for myself, my family, and my friends.”
Kevin Spacey Foundation Shuts Down
The Kevin Spacey Foundation U.K. has decided to shut down because of the multiple allegations of sexual harassment against the Academy Award winning actor.
The foundation said on its website Tuesday that its trustees have concluded the work of the foundation “is no longer viable.”
The foundation helped identify young artists and provide them with training and resources as they developed careers.
Spacey has strong connections to Britain, where he served as artistic director of the Old Vic theater for 11 years. The theater said in November that it had received 20 allegations of inappropriate behavior by Spacey.
Police in London said in January they were investigated three allegations of sexual assault against the former “House of Cards” star.
The foundation says it will cease operations Wednesday.
Feds Order LGBT Rainbow Crosswalk Art Removed
Rainbow-colored art placed on a crosswalk to honor the LGBT community in Lexington, Kentucky is distracting and should be removed, a federal official says.
Officials painted the crosswalk at a busy intersection across from the county courthouse earlier this year to coincide with an annual gay pride festival. At the time, city officials said the crosswalk would be safer because it would better catch the attention of drivers.
Thomas Nelson is the Kentucky division administrator for the Federal Highway Administration. He sent a letter to Lexington Mayor Jim Gray this week, saying that while the agency recognizes that the crosswalk art was well-intended, it distracts drivers because it is designed to “draw the eye” instead of “commanding the attention.”
Which according to most people, are the same exact thing.
“While we recognize in good faith your crosswalk art was well-intended for your community, we request that you take the necessary steps to remove the non-compliant crosswalk art as soon as it is feasible,” Nelson wrote in a letter to Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.
Nelson’s resume shows he was appointed to his position in 2015.
