Mr Sarkozy is being questioned as part of an investigation into “irregularities” in election campaign financing, a French court source told Reuters.
New details have been released in the arrest of a woman accused of damaging expensive art at a prominent Houston attorney’s home.
Lindy Lou Layman, 29, appeared before a judge on a charge of criminal mischief.
Prosecutors say Layman was on a “date” with attorney late Dec. 23. Buzbee told police Layman was too intoxicated, so he called her an Uber when they returned to his River Oaks home.
The woman allegedly refused to leave and hid inside the home, demaning money to leave. Buzbee located her and called her a second Uber, but the suspect allegedly became aggressive.
She is accused of yelling obscenities while tearing down two original Andy Warhol paintings, estimated at $500,000 each, from the wall of the attorney’s home.
She then allegedly threw two sculptures, valued at $20,000 each, according to charging documents.
At the time of the woman’s arrest, the damage was estimated to be about $300,000.
Let’s be honest here, this “date” wasn’t a date. Photos of the woman on Facebook clearly show the attraction to Mr. Buzbee had a lot to do with the size of his… umm… wallet.
Ex-French president Nicolas Sarkozy arrested over campaign financing
Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy is being held by police in connection to alleged campaign funding from late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
The amount would be more than double the legal spending limit in French elections at that time, which was €21m.
Alleged payments would also violate French laws on foreign financing and declaring the source of campaign funds.
Mr Sarkozy and his campaign manager have repeatedly denied accepting money from Libya.
According to Le Monde, this is the first time Mr Sarkozy has been questioned in relation to this investigation, which was opened in April 2013.
He can be held for up to 48 hours and presented to a magistrates’ court for indictment if police seek charges.
Mr Sarkozy has already been ordered to stand trial in a separate case, concerning the financing of his 2012 re-election campaign, when he lost to Francois Hollande.
In March 2011, Saif al Islam Gaddafi, the late dictator’s son, told Euronews: “Sarkozy has to give back the money he accepted from Libya to finance his electoral campaign. We financed his campaign and we have the proof…
“The first thing we’re demanding is that this clown gives back the money to the Libyan people.”
New Criminal Copyright Troll Destination360 Attempts Blackmail
You’ve heard of Righthaven? After personally making sure that they were sued and prosecuted, it seems that someone else is playing a game. Unfortunately for them, they tried to blackmail me, and when I refused to pay their “fees” they started to slander me. They probably should have run a simple google.
Now there is another company doing this: In the first time in 20 years of publishing, this guy has to be one of the worst scumbags ever. Despite hundreds of pages on Google about him being nothing more than a copyright troll who seems to be registering images he doesn’t even own.
Here’s the problem: They don’t actually own the images, but have been “registering” them illegally with the copyright office in bulk, claiming ownership.
This is a federal felony, and I think they know it. It’s why they are not sending DCMA take down requests, as required by law to even sue. They themselves “admit” in message boards that the images are being distributed by other people but claim it’s their ownership of the images, without any actual proof they took it.
Making this worse, they are using a fake IP phone number and fake address (post office box) in Nevada, hiding their true identity from the Police and FBI, who according to my source, have been trying to contact him for “years” about the fake legal letters that they have been sending. Unfortunately, no one actually picks up the phone or responds to letters– leading me to believe that this may an blackmail offshore operation to scam people.
NYPD: “Harvey Weinstein Ready to be Arrested for Rape”
The New York Police Department is reportedly prepared to make an arrest on Harvey Weinstein for felony sexual assault, pending a decision from the Manhattan District Attorney.
On Tuesday, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told the press that the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against the disgraced Hollywood producer was going “very, very well.” When pressed on what the next step would be for the department, Boyce directed further inquiries to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.
Later that same day a police official with “direct knowledge of the case” told The Daily Beast that the department is “ready to go with an arrest” pending Vance’s approval.
A woman by the name of Lucia Evans was the victim with the strongest case against Weinstein. Evans is one of many who came forward with her story, speaking to The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow one of the bombshell reports released last fall that led to Weinstein’s downfall.
Evans was in college, pursuing a career in acting, when she met Weinstein. As is the case with many of his alleged victims, he offered her professional guidance, which turned out to be a false pretense for his sexual advances.
