FBI and Canadian RCMP Investigating Ivanka in Vancouver Deal

Both the FBI and its counterparts in Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), are investigating Ivanka Trump’s business dealings and the financing of Trump International Hotel and Tower in Vancouver.

“In the case of Vancouver, it’s not clear why investigators are examining this particular deal,” reads a report on CNN. “The timing of the deal – as one of the few Trump-branded properties to open since Trump took office – could be of interest. The flow of foreign money, either from the developer or international condo buyers, could also be sparking scrutiny.”

The investigation comes as the first daughter is trying to obtain full security clearance in her role as adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump.

First prince, Jared Kushner, recently had his security clearance level downgraded. This past week it was reveal he is under scrutiny after it emerged his family company secured more than $500 million in loans after financial executives met with him at the White House.

The $360-million tower was unveiled exactly this week one year ago with Trump brothers Eric and Donald Jr. arriving in Vancouver to oversee opening ceremonies along with Tiah’s Malaysia-based businessman father, Tiah Thee Kian.

Tiah declined an interview request, and a spokesperson declined to answer questions about the financial arrangement between Holborn and the Trump Organization.

Days after Trump pledged to ban Muslim immigration to the United States, in December 2015, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson had even written to the hotel’s developer asking that Trump’s name be removed from the building.
At the time, Ivanka Trump’s involvement in the Vancouver property was described as a hands-on role in its interior design. There is a spa in the property that bears her name.

The Vancouver tower was one of the first of the family’s non-U.S. properties to open after Trump became president, sparking interest because President Trump had handed over the running of his empire to his family members, but did not divest himself of his ownership.

At the time, American reporters were looking into Trump’s dealings with Russia and ownership of individual units at Trump properties around the world.

Motel 6 Denies Couple Room Saying Puerto Rican Driver’s License isn’t U.S. ID

A Puerto Rican couple visiting Sacramento County for their niece’s wedding said they were unable to check into a Rancho Cordova Motel 6 because the racist front desk clerk didn’t believe they had valid U.S. identification.

When Raul Villanueva presented his Puerto Rico driver’s license late Wednesday night, the clerk told him, “Oh, you need a license from the United States,” he said.

“I said, ‘This is a license from the United States, that’s Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is the United States.’ She said, ‘No, it isn’t,’” Villanueva recalled.

Villanueva needed his ID in order to verify his reservation. The woman working at the front desk then asked for his and his wife’s passports, which he reluctantly retrieved.

“She wouldn’t take the passports after all,” Villanueva said. “When I brought them she said, ‘No, I won’t take it. I won’t take that.’ So I said, ‘OK, then give me my money back.’”

The couple called Motel 6’s corporate office Thursday and talked to a representative. The person apologized for the mistake and admitted Puerto Rican identification is on their list of accepted IDs.

The couple ended up staying the night with a relative. They still haven’t received their money back from Motel 6.

The National Border Patrol Council seemingly has turned against Trump, calling Trump’s efforrts to send National Guard troops to the American-Mexican border, nothing but a huge “colossal waste of resources.”

“We have seen no benefit,” said Brandon Judd, president of the union that represents 15,000 agents, the National Border Patrol Council. “We generally support the administration, but we’re not going to be cheerleading when things are not going well,” Judd said.

Additionally, Agent Chris Cabrera, a spokesman for the union in the Rio Grande Valley, said troops are stationed far from the border, duplicating rather than lessening agents’ workload – and often getting in the way and sometimes getting lost.

He points out that most of the troops are just standing around, having to find “busy work.”

Texas Rep. Mary E. Gonzalez, who represents a district outside El Paso, agrees. “The National Guard deployment is a waste of finite resources, and is duplicative of existing border security efforts.”

According the Nevada Independent Editor Jon Ralston, the Las Vegas Review Journal has ordered its reporters not to cover the Democratic debate between  Gubernatorial Democratic Candidates. The Review Journal is owned by GOP Mega-donor Sheldon Adelson.

What began as an abstract fear of a powerful new owner’s political hand wanting to steer the paper’s news coverage, after Sheldon Adelson was revealed as the “secret” buyer of the Review-Journal in 2015, has become a reality: Addelson is now controlling the political content specifically to harm Democrats.
